The HIE Policy Board convene to develop and make recommendations of policies for privacy and security of PHI exchanged through and HIE operating in Maryland. The board will establish policies regarding consumer authorization and consent, user authentication, role-based authorization, security and audit trail requirements.

The MHCC convened an EHN Workgroup with CRISP and EHN representatives to develop an implementation strategy for the required data exchange and create a draft framework ensuring data privacy and security.

The Commission created the Maryland State Cardiac Data Advisory Committee to help put new rules for reporting heart health data into action and to figure out how to best share this data with the public. All meetings of the Advisory Committee are open to the public.
