The Cardiac Services Advisory Committee (CSAC) is provided for in COMAR 10.24.17.03, and its members are approved by the Commission. Its role is to provide advice to the Commission regarding the regulation of cardiac surgery and percutaneous coronary intervention services . The CSAC includes representatives for the Maryland Chapter of the American College of Cardiology, the Society of Thoracic Surgeons, the Maryland Institute for Emergency Medical Services Systems (MIEMSS), and independent hospitals and health systems. It also includes a member who can provide a consumer’s perspective.
Meetings of the CSAC will be held approximately 2-4 times a year and meeting summaries will be posted online once available.
