Overview
During the 2018 legislative session, Senate Bill 896, Health Record and Payment Integration Program Advisory Committee, was passed and requires the Maryland Health Care Commission (MHCC) to establish a Health Record and Payment Integration Program Advisory Committee (or Advisory Committee). The Advisory Committee is tasked with conducting a health information technology policy study that assesses the feasibility of creating a health record and payment integration program that, among other things, could incorporate administrative health care claim transactions into the State–Designated Health Information Exchange (HIE), the Chesapeake Regional Information System for our Patients (CRISP). The MHCC is required to report on or before November 1, 2019 to the Governor and General Assembly detailing findings and recommendations from the study.
