Last Sept, Governor Moore issued a directive to create a working group of State regulatory agencies to work towards achieving the goals and objectives of Maryland under the AHEAD Model. The working group was charged with submitting an initial plan of work that would be needed to support Maryland's efforts under AHEAD due last October. The plan the working group developed included a list of priority topics and deliverables. One of those topics was post-acute care. The post-acute care item included a focus on challenges around clinically appropriate hospital discharges placements. However, the requirement is broader than this and calls on MHCC to develop a report with recommendations addressing quality, access and cost savings, including the impact of mergers and acquisitions.
