Find Resources by Health Care Facility

We plan for and regulate the supply and distribution of health care facilities and services. Select a healthcare facility to find regulations, capacity and use information, and other resources for advancing health information technology use and transforming care delivery.
Ambulatory Surgery

Ambulatory surgery also known as outpatient surgery or same day surgery refers to surgical procedures performed in a healthcare facility where the patient does not require an overnight stay. After the surgery and a short recovery period, the patient is discharged to recover at home. The Commission help to meet the current and future health system needs of all Maryland residents.

Assisted Living

Assisted living is a type of residential care designed for older adults or individuals with disabilities who need help with daily activities but do not require the intensive medical care provided in a nursing home. Assisted living facilities offer a combination of housing, personalized support services, and healthcare to promote independence while ensuring safety and comfort.

Chronic Care

Chronic care services are typically provided in licensed chronic hospitals, which are distinct from general acute care hospitals. These facilities are specifically designed to care for patients who require long-term, hospital-level services.in some cases, chronic care services may be located within or co-located on the campus of a general hospital, particularly when there are shared resources or affiliations. They remain separately licensed and operated as chronic care facilities.

Hospice

A Hospice Agency is a licensed health care provider that delivers palliative and end-of-life care to patients with terminal illnesses, focusing on comfort, pain management, and quality of life rather than curative treatment. Hospice services are typically provided in a patient’s home, but may also be delivered in hospice facilities, hospitals, assisted living facilities or nursing homes. Hospice services can include medical equipment, nursing, social work, spiritual care, bereavement, and volunteer services for both patients and their families.

Hospitals

Hospitals in Maryland provide a broad range of services, including acute care, general surgical services, inpatient obstetrical services, organ transplantation, psychiatric care, rehabilitation, chronic and other specialized services. These services are typically delivered within licensed general hospitals or specialty hospitals and are designed to meet varying levels of patient need across the continuum of care.

Nursing Homes

A Comprehensive Care Facility (CCF), commonly referred to as a nursing home, is a licensed health care facility that provides 24-hour nursing care and supervision, as well as assistance with daily living activities, to individuals who require ongoing medical and personal care. Services may include skilled nursing care, rehabilitation services, and long-term custodial care.

Residential Treatment Facilities

A Residential Treatment Center (RTC) is a licensed health care facility that provides 24-hour structured care, supervision, and therapeutic services to children and adolescents with behavioral health, mental health, or substance use treatment needs. RTCs offer a range of clinical services in a residential setting, including counseling, psychiatric care, and supportive services.
