MHCC   Surveys    Freestanding Ambulatory Surgery

Maryland Freestanding Ambulatory Surgery Facilities

The Maryland Health Care Commission (MHCC) conducts an annual survey of Maryland Freestanding Ambulatory Surgery Facilities (ASFs) in the first quarter of each year. The survey collection period runs for 45 business days. Code of Maryland Regulations (COMAR 10.24.04) specify the reporting requirements for Maryland Freestanding ASFs. Under these regulations, the Commission requires providers to submit accurate, timely, and complete data needed to support health planning and policy development for ambulatory surgery services.

The Commission has revised and streamlined the annual survey beginning with the 2018 reporting year to meet current Commission requirements and to support informational requirements of the Health Service Cost Review Commission (HSCRC). Survey results are used to update the State Health Plan as well as the MHCC consumer website  https://healthcarequality.mhcc.maryland.gov/
