Electronic Data Interchange (EDI)
EDI is the exchange of standardized electronic documents between organizations and their computer applications. The health care industry has employed EDI for more than 30 years to create efficiencies in third-party payer billing.
The electronic exchange of health information offers several benefits to both payers and providers, including:
- improved cash flow
- reduced administrative costs
- fewer claim errors
- improved productivity
- elimination of paper waste
