Maryland Health Care Commission

Primary Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (pPCI)

A hospital without on-site cardiac surgery may apply for a waiver to provide primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) services. The Commission will receive applications on the dates listed in the published schedule. The hospital must submit its request for a primary PCI waiver in a format specified by the Commission.

To renew a primary PCI waiver, a hospital must provide all the information requested on the MHCC Primary PCI Waiver Renewal Application form (3/19/07).

Hospitals that have not previously offered primary PCI services must provide all of the information requested on the MHCC Primary PCI Waiver Application: Initiation of New Program document.

The Commission will review each application to determine whether the hospital meets the requirements in Table A-1 of COMAR 10.24.17.
