Maryland Health Care Commission

Non-Primary Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (npPCI)

A hospital without on-site cardiac surgery may apply for a waiver to participate in a research study of the safety and efficacy of non-primary percutaneous coronary intervention (npPCI) services as provided for by COMAR 10.24.05. The waiver program permits a limited number of hospitals to participate in a research project conducted by the Atlantic Cardiovascular Patient Outcomes Research Team (C-PORT), and establishes a one-time application process. The Commission will receive applications from hospitals in the Metropolitan Baltimore and Metropolitan Washington Regional Service Areas, and in the Western Maryland and Eastern Shore Regional Service Areas on the dates listed in the published schedules. The hospital must submit its request for a non-primary PCI waiver in a format specified by the Commission.
