National Health Information Technology Coordination Efforts

Advancing health information technology (HIT) is a national phenomenon. HIT is expected to increase efficiency, reduce medical errors, reduce costs, and improve the quality of health care. The Center for Health Information Technology stays in frequent contact with a number of national organizations involved in promoting the adoption of HIT. Coordinating local HIT efforts with national activities enables Maryland to be an active participant in the broad national strategy to implement the sharing of electronic health information, and the use and adoption of electronic health records.

The Center for Health Information Technology frequently supports a number of national HIT initiatives. The following list represents organizations where staff monitors and or is actively involved in developing strategies aimed at advancing HIT.
