Consumer Guide to Long Term Care

Home Based Care

Home Based Care can include a variety of activities such as nursing care, rehabilitation services (for example, physical therapy), assistance with activities of daily living (ADL's), assistance with housekeeping, chores and meal preparation, or assistance with activities to maintain health such as taking medications. There are several types of agencies in Maryland that provide these services. Below are links to the types of agencies providing care in the home and a description of the services they provide. If you need home-based care, it may be helpful to first be clear about what type(s) of help you need, and then you can look for agencies that can meet those needs. The following service agencies are contained in this section of the website: Home Health Agencies, Nurse Referral Service Agencies, Residential Service Agencies, and Hospice Information.
