About MHCC

The Maryland Health Care Commission (MHCC) and the Health Services Cost Review Commission (HSCRC), in consultation with the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, produced this Guide on Maryland hospitals with the assistance of experts in hospital care, and representatives of the hospital industry in Maryland. Both the MHCC and the HSCRC are public regulatory agencies.

The Maryland General Assembly has authorized the MHCC to produce several types of performance evaluation systems, including the development of the Nursing Home Performance Evaluation Guide, the Assisted Living Facility Guide and Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) and POS Plans Guides.
